I became enchanted at an early age by music, falling asleep to my trusty transistor radio set to KHJ and later, KMET in Los Angeles. School music programs then were very well-funded and encouraging. All you had to was show up with an easily-rented instrument. I learned trumpet and baritone sax and felt the thrill of ensemble playing.

The late 70’s were truly an interesting time to grow up as a budding musician. Woodstock was only a few years prior, disco was all the rage, and the progressive rock movement was hitting its stride. Oh yeah…there was also KISS!!
Up the block, my buddies were always busy raiding their father’s record collection. These “after-school” listening parties tipped me to the masterworks of Hendrix and the mind-blowing jams of Cream.

In high school it seemed that everyone had started playing the guitar, drawing from all the aforementioned inspirations. (And, yes, that included KISS.)

It was indeed guitar-mania at my high school. My own ‘guitar-journey’ started back then and continues today jammin’ with Dr.Iven. This band has been the first opportunity I’ve had to fuse all of my influences.
It’s also the first band I’ve joined where I actually like the music. (hahahaha!)
