Bringing Down the House
March 14, 2008 - Exciting, musical and energetic are just a few words that describe Dr.Iven's evening performance on March 14. Dr.Iven was a featured opener for the band Winger at Crash Mansion (Los Angeles, CA) a new, hip club near STAPLES Center that spotlights national acts throughout the U.S. Several hundred people came out to see Dr.Iven showcase their innovative rock music. The band blasted right through their non-stop musical set with power and proficiency. The most common quote of the night, "That band rocks!"
Entertaining The Jesters
March 14, 2008 - Dr.Iven's M3 Workshop (a combo of live music and motivational speaking) was in effect and booming on the campus of Saint Joseph High School in Lakewood, CA. The energy in the Flynn Center was exhilarating! Students and faculty were having a great time listening to Domenico Pilato as he spoke passionately on the theme of the day. Of course, following up his talks with fiery original rock music wasn't bad either. Eventually The Jesters rushed the stage, adding more fuel and good vibes than the Dr. could possibly prescribe. It was a performance that the band will remember for a lifetime.
Rap and Rock
March 13, 2008 - "For a down to earth group that delivers big, there is nowhere else to look," said Juan Nagore, Student Activities Director, St. Bernard High School (Playa Del Rey, CA). Dr.Iven performed with endless drive and vigor for the Vikings of St. Bernard's. The interaction between audience and band was fantastic! From the first downbeat, the students displayed a ton of enthusiasm, which the band appreciated and reciprocated.
Central Coast Double Header
March 12, 2008 - St. Joseph High School (Santa Maria, CA) held their annual TRUST Week in March. This year's theme was "Anti-Substance Abuse." On March 12, Dr.Iven was featured at a morning student assembly and an evening event with parents and members of the community. The group shared their original music and personal stories on the importance of living a healthy, drug-free lifestyle. "Dr.Iven, with its high-energy mix of rock music and motivational lessons and stories, helped make this year's TRUST Week one of our most successful ever without the preaching or proselytizing that so often accompanies anti-drug lectures," said Joe Myers, Principal.
The Sky's the Limit
March 6, 2008 - Dr.Iven had a great opportunity to entertain and talk to the students of Mary Star of the Sea High School (San Pedro, CA). The students were lively, attentive and FUN! The band performed its music in an intimate setting, which is always a nice and welcomed change. Both parties were enlightened by the day's events and a good time was had by all. Many of students came up to the band following the show and expressed how they were touched by the lyrics. Hats off to lyricist Gino Di Leva for that one!
Alemany Displays Its Affection Through Signage
February 21, 2008 - One of the most important things for a musician to experience is collaborative creativity among band mates. Shall we say, Bishop Alemany High School (Mission Hills, CA) you definitely displayed this creativity with your "on the spot" sign making. It was awesome! Dr.Iven was deeply touched and amused with the enormous amount of posters that were made and displayed during the assembly. You all unanimously take the prize for being the most innovative poster-makers! Dr.Iven was truly excited to have experienced your positive spontaneity and expression of appreciation for what we love to do - MUSIC!
Two Shows - One Fabulous Student Body
January 30, 2008 - The students of La Salle High School (Pasadena, CA) absolutely lit up the room with their charisma a positive spirit! Wow! La Salle High School, You Rock! Dr.Iven was filled with immense energy that came directly from the students. The Lancers were fully immersed into the show and brought so much enthusiasm into the gym that even our sound engineer was fired up! La Salle was celebrating the theme of "You Can Make a Difference" and, on that note, Dr.Iven can say one thing for sure…the students definitely made all the difference in their experience at La Salle High.
